PBL|Technical talent program

Your four-year learning pathway

  1. Year 1

Take introductory image recognition sessions outside regular classes and explore project ideas related to the lab’s research. Discussions are arranged according to progress.

  2. Year 2

Develop your project and present it at the first project exhibition at the end of the second semester.

  3. Year 3

Extend your work and present it at the second project exhibition at the end of the second semester.

  4. Year 4

Plan activities around further study, employment and graduation. Compile competition, certification and other records from all four years for your graduation portfolio.

Competitions

Lab requirement: In Years 1–3, enter at least one competition each semester while keeping coursework the priority. Year 4 activities follow your individual plans.

PBL graduation requirement: Receive at least one competition award during the four-year program.

Look for suitable events on competition platforms such as Bounty Hunter. Financial support depends on the available budget and individual circumstances; discuss it with the professor before entering.

Certifications

PBL students need at least two qualifying certifications before graduation. Required courses arrange relevant examinations to help students meet this requirement. Language certificates and driving licences do not count.

If you have not met the requirement, ask the College of Engineering office assistant about remedial options, or find another qualifying certification examination.

Regular project students

  1. Year 2 · First semester

Attend introductions to the research directions of different labs, then visit labs that interest you or speak with the professors after class.

  2. After joining

Begin your project alongside your coursework. Propose your own idea or choose a direction suggested by the professor, and arrange meetings directly.

  3. Year 3

Organize and present your work at one project exhibition.

Competitions and graduation points: The lab does not require regular project students to enter competitions. Graduation requirements include points accumulated through activities such as competitions or certifications. Ask the department office or consult the university website for the applicable rules.

Graduation requirements: confirm the rules for your admission year with the department, College of Engineering or official university information. Lab participation requirements are separate from university graduation requirements.

How is a project topic chosen?

Bring your own interests or choose from topics suggested by the professor, then discuss the direction together.

When are project meetings held?

There is no fixed meeting schedule. PBL discussions follow learning and project progress; regular project students arrange meetings directly with the professor.
